First of all let me just say…I love spring! Okay that’s all. But I do. And not just because I hate cold weather, even though I do. But because it’s just so exciting! It’s like, instinctually exciting. I feel my happiness on my skin. And you all know how I love things that are superficial! Seriously, though, people have always loved spring, and I love spring.

In other news, I have been reading Dylan’s blog, where she finally posted after weeks of being a complete slacker – that’s right, Dyl, I stalk you, I get immediate updates when you update your blog and I stop what I’m doing and read it…okay that’s not true. But if that were possible, I would totally do it!

And…I think craigslist real estate searching is going to be my new thing. Not only because it’s a really good excuse for reading craigslist personals. Just to read them! Not because I want to reply to any of them.

Did anyone else try to go see “Baby Mamma” this past weekend and totally not be able to? That happened to me. Well, I guess what happened was that I missed the 7 o’clock show and then was too tired/ lazy to stay up for the 10 o’clock show. That happens to me all the time. Whatever happened to a normal, accessible 8:30 show? That’s what I want to know. An 8:30 show of the movie I want to see, in the neighborhood where I want to see it, for…$5. Even $6.50 would be totally okay. That is what I want. Plus someone to drive me. And some popcorn with a little butter.

Lisa is the poster girl for body image. Like Debra, she's one of the prettiest women in the cast and she uses sex to boost her self-esteem. In the beginning, we find Lisa sleeping with everybody, like it's an itch. She's with her co-worker, her acting teacher (just like in the show Unscripted), and she even lets Jed put the moves on her. She was the resident hooch, until she settled down and was replaced by Vanessa.

People sleep around for different reasons, but she was really looking for something genuine all along. Debra sought acknowledgment through sex and built her self-esteem on it. For Lisa it was more about body image and sex appeal, which also go back to acknowledgment and self-esteem. Lisa went from resident hooch to representing women's struggle with body image. Jed convinced her that she was naturally beautiful and that hoochie did not equal sexy. This raises a point about sex appeal, which is that men are not necessarily attracted to what women think they are. It was when she opened up, dressed down, and stopped trying so hard that she got John's attention.

Another reflection is how the writers like to promote the video blogging experience in the show as this sort of glorified dating site. Her video blog was how she met John after all. One wonders whether that's what quarterlife really is at end of the day. By posting our art and thoughts, maybe we think we're John or Lisa and that our Lisa or John is going to have coffee with us, sleep with us, and that we'll make beautiful music together.
