cancer is everything we describe as evil. it eats away the good from the inside out and takes the life away from them. it is cruel and unprejudiced. it doesn't care whether who you are, what race you are, or who you love. it doesn't care whether you are a lover, a friend, a sister, a brother, a mother, a father or a grandparent.

there is absolutely no good that comes of it and it kills everything that it touches whether it is quick or slow it is never painless. leaving us here to mourn the loss of yet another caring individual that didn't deserve to suffer or be taken away from those they love.

knowing that almost every one of your father's immediate family members has been taken by this evil disease is a hard realty to face. Seeing one of your uncle's on death's door waiting to end the suffering and knowing that he was gone a few days later is terrifying. Now I have to know that my aunt, my father's last living immediate family member, is suffering daily and counting down her last days due to this curse my family seems to carry in their blood. Knowing that this fate may one day be mine or my sisters or my brothers or even my fathers... it is inevitable, but that does not make it any less harsh.

I know death is an unavoidable part of life. It's system... it's just the way it has to be. I also realize now as I get older I will have to watch more people I love get older and pass away. It's not a comforting feeling. I don't like to think so morbidly, but sometimes I just can't help it... this is one of those times.
