So, I’m assuming that
most of you reading this
are Democrats, and fairly
left-wing ones at that.
Obama vs. Hillary. John
Edwards on the side.
Blah, blah, blah. I’ve
read your posts, and most
bore me to death.
I think the really
interesting question for
Democrats is not who is
going to end up on ‘our’
side of the ticket, but
who is going to end up on
the ‘bad guys’ team.
McCain? Giuliani? Who?
Romney? What?
Should Democrats cheer
for the Republican they
can stomach the most? It
is in our best interests
if the most ‘leftwing’
Republican wins the
Presidency? Should we
cheer for the most
pro-choice, anti-gun
candidate? Giuliani
perhaps? Problem is, what
if they eat into the
Democratic vote and end
up winning? Ahhhh!
Or should we cheer for
the one that is
unelectable? The one with
views that are so
outrageous that the
nation could simply never
elect him? Ron Paul? Mike
Huckabee? This is a huge
gamble—Republican’s are
crafty, shifting their
messaging left during
general elections and
snapping back right the
second they are in power.
Through to the
presidential race,
anything could happen.
More interestingly,
should we go out and vote
in the Republican
primaries to help get our
‘man’ elected, whoever he
is? How about volunteer
for their campaigns? How
far do we go to get the
other side sorted out
properly? What if someone
formed a “Democrats for
McCain” coalition to get
him through to the second
round, where they would
be waiting to crush him
on the other side?!
I don’t have any simple
answers to these
questions. I don’t have
really any answers at
all. I’m not even
American. I’m Canadian.
That’s why I want the
Republicans to win. So
all you smart Democrats
get the hell out of the
US and move up into my
neighbourhood! We can
make ice sculptures of
the new Republican
President and slowly melt
parts of his face off! I
am tired of all my
Canadian family and
friends moving to the US.
I want some of you here.
Too bad it might take an
election gone wrong to
make it happen.
Discuss. Canada anyone?
