About me

i watch quarterlife (the show). i love it. i identify with exactly every character always (except danny and vanessa, who are assholes). how is it that they are all the same as me at all times?

i am a musician who was once also a teacher and is now loafing. i spend some time playing the guitar; more playing along with songs and trying to figure out how to sing than actually writing material.

i hold a mild interest in writing. i have been fascinated by the works of aaron sorkin (most of which is about writers trying to write), tina fey, and steve martin. i hope to take a try at this one day. i should get a humanities degree first, i suppose.

i play poker as a mental exercise to keep myself sharp in the ways of strategy, observation, patience, wit, strength, and deceit. i hold a respect and a love for the game, and i express that respect and love by spending hours and money at it.

i believe that i should create.

,i play the trumpet well,the guitar adequately,and the piano poorly.

i listen to indie rock,radio hits,and an ever increasing amount of hip-hop.

reading

,i enjoy reading the new yorker for its content on current events,its cartoons,its film reviews,and occasionally its fiction. it reminds me of my old academic days.

i must admit to also spending time reading dry,mathematical texts to augment my skill at poker. theoretical arguments and hypothetical game theory exercises fascinate me.,

holy crap you guys are cute. it's kind of gross.... haha j/k...

And I accept your challenge Brian. I love fireworks and I love to talk about them! My favourite fireworks are the ones that look like weeping willows when they burst and the embers fall like willow branches. I also like the really loud ones. This year we watched fireworks over the lake and since we were a ways off from the actual place they were shooting we heard the boom after we saw the explosion. I was calling all the sounds that were coming...haha I am kind of a pyro (or pyromaniac for he who does not like shortened words...hehe) so I have a not so slight obsession with fireworks and in ND there are few regulations on them (compared to everywhere else) so I was blowing things up at a pretty young age. We used to build things just to blow them up..haha I miss that.... ANYWAYS.... Art Garfunkle (sp?) is great.... and on another musical note... (oh yes I too can be punny!) Have you listened to those songs yet? I bet you didn't so I am reminding you. "Velouria" first the original (The Pixies) and then the cover (The Bad Plus). Do it. Oh yeah and (as if you hadn't noticed) I have not fixed my computer yet so I think I might be leaving the longest text comment ever! Jeez! I don't really do this for anyone else, but I had to comment on this after the challenge of course!! I will look into yours and Franchise's song business but honestly I think my take on it is pretty awesome. If I ever get a new chord for the pc i will try to record it somehow. Or maybe I will make Ben teach me how to record things downstairs and really go to town.... I don't know how anything works in his practice space but I do know there is a p.a. and some recording stuff down there... hrrmmm... is this the longest text comment yet? I'm not so sure... I think maybe it might be! I hope your 4th was awesome and I will not be forgetting your birthday either. You should send me your email so I can at least send you an ecard or something! "I Think I'll Go To BOSTON..."

i will be making my next trip to boston THIS WEEKEND, june 7th, 8th, and 9th, for my third date with miss _re. it is the result of a surprise scheduling coincidence... i happen to have an unusual off-saturday, and i happened to win the required $155 train fare in a poker game last week (i pretty much kicked major poker @ss)!

i am not able to view anybody's video comments, or my own videos for that matter, so please leave only texts for me for a while. i will let you know when it is safe to leave videos again (i miss you guys!)

also, i have been working on a cleaned-up audio version of "coffee." i am nowhere near finished yet, but look for it to be posted by the end of next week (hopefully before father's day).

i'll talk to you from boston!
