fen: May 04, 2008 - 12:19 AM PST sad news, the pour was canceled. Unfortunately the molds weren't setting and that could mean a variety of things are wrong, but who knows. hopefully things will work out for the project to be done next semester. Good news is we will be doing bronze again, so I will do my best to get as much of that recorded and posted as I can.

fen: April 20, 2008 - 06:02 PM PST the sand mold worked! Now I just get to help do the second side of my instructor/ boss' mold. weeeee... not really, if I never have to try and lift another 100 lbs of sand again in my life it will be too soon. THough it has been an awesome experience.
An iron pour is simply that. we'll be pouring iron into molds made around oil-based clay patterns. The project was supposed to be of double meaning. A scupture that has at least two meanings. I'll tell more as I go along, posting what I can. As soon as I either find the cord to connect my camera to my laptop or transfer the files onto my desktop I'll post them on here.
We're also doing glass projects which I have posted a picture of the original clay pattern which has been the first step in the process. Again i will post more on the process on my profile as I get more picures up. I think we also still have another bronze pour, different process from the iron, and if we do another I'll post some pictures and video of the pour and my pieces.

fen: April 18, 2008 - 07:42 PM PST My sculpting class is doing an iron pour on the 4th and I was wondering if you guys would be interested in seeing video and pictures of it. Just let me know. We're starting our molds now. I've had to do mine three times because it hasn't set right, three times in three days. Hopefully today's did the trick.
