My Top 5 Go Away List:
(very hard to limit to 5...in no particular order)

1. Fountains of Wayne (remember Stacy's Mom?)

HEY! No fair! Fountains of Wayne provided the brilliant voices we came to know and love as The Wonders:

You mean, the O-ne-ders? :P

Anyway, Nickleback, Ashley Simpson, Creed, Good Charlotte, these are all great candidates to be banished to Pluto.

MissJmeLee: May 12, 2008 - 09:30 PM PST Dammit This Is Gunna Be Hard...

But I'll give it a shot...considering I harbor tons of hate towards terrible music...

The Top 5 Bands/Artists I Wish Would Just Go Away...

1.Buckcherry(Seriously...Shoot Yourself! That Sorry song is an awful piece of crap)

2.Miley Cirus(Hannah Montana Is A Crap Show, And Shes Just As Crappy)

3.Good Charlotte(The Fact That Their Still Trying...Amazes The Shit Outta Me)

4.P.Diddy/Puffy(Whatever His Name Is...He Needs To Cut It Out)

5.Britney Spears(That Crazy WhoreBag Needs To Lay Off The Drugs And Music...Then Focus On Rehab...Cause Her Music Is Shit)

I didn't even mention all the crap-ass country singers there are out there... I'm Texan, but I think country music in general is pretty much god awful.

Good Charlotte (and really anyone making pop/punk albums)

I find your commentary on Good Charlotte incredibly amusing since A) their last single (or the last one I heard anyway) was so far from being even pop punk that they need to have their tattoos forcibly removed because of it (Dance Hall Anthem? White suits and a light show?) and B) these kids who once sang about how repulsive the spoiled elite were are now with Nicole Ritchie and Paris Hilton.....how much more lifestyles of the rich and famous can you get than that pair?

That said, my top 5 bands/artists I wish would go away....
* My Chemical Romance
* Rhianna (has she done anything original, yet?)
* Taylor Swift (it's all fine and dandy to "write what you know" but if I have to be subjected to one more glimpse into the life of a sixteen-year-old I might have to shoot the radio)
* Carrie Underwood .... I didn't mind her until the girl I work with played her new CD all day, every day for a freaking week.
* Jessica Simpson if for no other reason than the previously mentioned girl at work asked me if A Fine Frenzy was Jessica Simpson.

(very hard to limit to 5...in no particular order)

1. Fountains of Wayne (remember Stacy's Mom?)
2. Nelly (and anyone else who sings/raps about buying things like grills)
3. Miley Cyrus
4. Nickleback
5. Ashley and Jessica Simpson

That was hard. I am sure there are people I hate more than some of them, but I think maybe Nickleback takes the cake for worst ever. I decided not to go into the country genre for there are too many people that have ruined that once fine style of music for me....

Franchise: April 18, 2008 - 02:42 PM PST Can someone please stop Sean Kingston from ruining classics such as "My Girl" with his dreadfully repetitive and played out "Beautiful Girls"...

That's hard to say because when you think it goes awa (especially now) YouTube has a way of bringing it back.

i was going to post a youtube of "informer" in this space, but i will spare you all. i wouldn't want to be responsible for bringing that one back from the dead...

"...you know she wanna snow me with a blam / an icky boom boom down..." (??)

do it - I don't know what you're talking about.

lilsey: April 18, 2008 - 09:18 AM PST whoever sings that "low" song needs to be shot in the head.

annnnnddd... hhmmmm I pretty much like anything that doesn't suck so much if I can relate to it on some level or just like the sound of it... I'm not so picky when it comes to chord progressions or anything deeply musical... I just have always said if I like it, I like it if I hate it I hate it.

and really the only thing I've hated recently, is this uber sucky band that I bought the ep from cause they were bugging me on the street in Downtown Fullerton, and I hadn't heard of them ever... their name was the Garden Gnomes... they need to be shot and maimed too.

jackfinn: April 18, 2008 - 08:44 AM PST Sorry for the blank post ... I'll delete it asap. The lesson, as always, I'm an idiot.

Here's my - in the spirit of High Fidelity - top 5 list of bands/musicians I wish would just go away ...

Fallout Boy
The Eagles
The Simpson sisters
Good Charlotte (and really anyone making pop/punk albums)
Toby F$%*ing Keith

Kudos for the Snow shoutout ... "You no say Daddy me Snow is to blame." Brilliant. Just brilliant.

Maybe we could add songs we wish would disappear, too?

brianbunnell: April 18, 2008 - 08:36 AM PST all of this recent discussion on music "standing the test of time" got me thinking: what current music do you think definitely WON'T stand the test of time?

we know that vanilla ice still has a little bit of celebrity, because people still know the name and can relate it to a song. but how many of us remember Snow, and his hit "informer"?

i also can't stand rihanna's tune "please don't stop the music." i actually like a lot of rihanna's stuff, but this one drives me bananas. why would you use a michael jackson sample that is just two quick chords? that isn't enough!!!!
