I expected this to be a really dumb band the first time I heard of them.

But she has this AMAZING voice...

And if you listen to this song while driving at night, windows down...it makes you feel so...I dunno...I guess in love with the world.

It's my favorite driving at night song. LoL

Squirrel Nut Zippers

I love the neuvo-swing movement and wish it had lasted longer. Squirrel Nut Zippers, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (who I've seen live....mucho fun-o), Brian Setzer Orchestra, and so on and so forth.... I was born in the wrong era.

Andrew Chaikin is Kid Beyond, and I've been a fan of his for ten years now. He is widely considered the father of modern vocal drumming. Aside from doing several voiceover jobs for commercials and video games, he performs live with the help of some equipment. This video goes into what he does to perform live.

Unbelievable.

Holy Crap that was amazing. Thanks.

Also see Rahzel - the godfather of noise.

I'll start this discussion off with a little Jeff Hanson. He sounds a LOT like a girl, but don;t let that throw you off, it's still pretty good stuff.

Use this space to discuss off the wall kinds of music you wouldn't expect to be good, and were either surprised by or yet to be proven wrong about.

Have fun.

I hope I dont offend anyone when I say, that was hilarious.

cisco: March 06, 2008 - 03:59 AM PST 2*Sweet They're amazing live and on myspace. Plus, they're some REALLY awesome guys.

The Knockout Kings are also pretty cool, the first time I'd heard of them was at a show. I have about two pictures of the lead singer in my portfolio, they were really energetic and have a cool show.

Paramore If you haven't heard of Paramore by no, you need to get out from under your rock. This band is really talented, and Hayley has an AMAZING voice. They started recording when they were about 14/15, which is part of the reason why I respect them as musicians and as artists so much.

Woah... Kid Beyond. That first example he does not only sounds like a drummer, he sounds like a good drummer. Holy crap. That's it, I'm sold, dex.

Chaikin started lots of controversy in the vocal music community back in the early 90's because he was kit drum imitative. Most everyone at the time (Bobby McFerrin, Jeff Thacher of Rockapella, etc) was organic and they felt he wasn't being true to the art form. Now everyone wants to be imitative. He is the best...light years ahead of anything I can do drum-wise.
