She wrote, "Is not general incivility the very essence of love." I could not agree more. Love is raw and passionate; there is no room for soliciting. And then, suddenly, I remember that I've never been in love. The love defenders say that it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. But this is all relative and conditional--for how many of us haven't experienced it yet? They also say that I wouldn't know how good it is until I lose it. Well, I say I won't know how good it is until I have it. So I will wait because love is patient. And while I wait, I'll read some Jane Austen because if love becomes nothing more than wishful thinking for my lonesome self, at least I will have read some good literature.

I’m Gabriel Anthony and I just finished my third year in college. If I could do college all over again, I’d major in English or history, and minor in something like biology. I transferred to the University of Nevada, Reno from UC Davis in spring of 2007. I thrive on involvement--on campus, in my fraternity, or else where. As a student senator last year, I championed legislation that helps reduce the cost of textbooks, and sponsored bills pertaining to student safety, campus diversity, and the DREAM Act. Aside from that…

I try to be as positive as possible, while keeping my feet on the ground. I know that I don’t know everything and that I can’t prevent what I can’t predict, but it would be nice to have a small glimpse of what may come with my next step in life. I enjoy the simple things: visiting cnn.com for my daily news; sipping on a hot-soy-chai when I study; cruising in my low-emissions, fuel-efficient Honda; tennis; good conversations; good books; and good music. On the real, I’m somewhat cool, collected, and always down to try new things. For the most part, I know what I want and I work hard. Desirable results of ambition take time; so I believe in working at my own pace, grooving to my own beat. If we don’t take the time to live life to the fullest, we lose. We lose what we could have gained. We’re all young, vibrant and drenched with potential. No obstacle should stop us from attaining our goals–money, parents, lovers, or haters. If anything, these will make the journey more worth the time it takes to achieve it.
