I'm an italian girl.I study physics...i think it's mostly because I'm really interested in deeply understanding how things work, how our world works...I'm taking a master and i'm pretty sure i'll take a phd after my master graduation. In italian my name means "joyful, smiling girl" and I don't know why, but it totally describes me.People say I always have a smile for everyone, and it's true,I feel like it makes me stronger, in some way.

Thanks for the comment on my silly flower picture, I just recently discovered the 'macro' button on my camera and I started taking all kinds of pictures! That on turned out well. Sorry to hear about the Italian elections, it was all over the news here in the States. I hope things change soon, despite the long term of the elected officials:( Hang in there! Leala

this is very interesting, im studying italian at my university right now and i think it you bring up a very good point, it makes me even wonder beyond facial expressions, how do people act differently when speaking another language, do we have an english personaility as opposed to an italian one or a german one? grazie

I think you did have more facial expressions, or larger expressions in some way when you were talking English, but maybe that was also as it took longer than it did in Italian. (Hope that makes some sense!) (Its also not a bad thing that it took longer.) I know I use many more expressions when using my own language (English) to talk to people, who dont understand it that well, but to those who do, I think I don't. Ill have to think about how I am when I try and speak German!

Couple months ago I was talking with my friend about this. He is Russian and I am Bulgarian. We live in the U.S.A., in a small town, in a small state, so what we were discussing might not be true for the whole country. We were talking about our countries, and how people there do not have sense of a community. Our lives there are centered around the family, and that is as far as it goes. When I am there I don't feel like a part of something bigger, like a citizen of my home town, or a ci...

Life is so precious; while we think we're immortal, we all actually have an expiration date. I have such great empathy for you and my heart goes out to you and others who were touched by your professor. Cherish the moments spent with him and give thanks for the opportunity to have shared those precious moments of life with him.

Its just a moment, and moments pass, but if you make a trip around, and you feel like you need another gig, just pack and go... life is short and if you feel the urge to do something like MOVING, just give it a go! Sincerely... Oliq

Congratulations! ^_^ I can understand why you are so excited. I just got myself into a similar situation in my profession. Mine is a volunteer position, but it's amazing experience and so intriguing. I hope it's an amazing experience for you.

Oh, I want your nose... I love it! You have a beautiful profile. And thanks for your comments on my horse picture, she was the best of subjects. She is a beautiful horse and she knows that she is gorgeous, so she would change positions, stand still for the photo... change again, stand still... Perfect model!

I just came upon your blog -- and I want to tell you how moved I was by your words and your thoughts -- how strange and sad to find this person dead. Surreal. This happened to someone I know very well, and she was affected by it for weeks. As human beings we are wired to connect to others, and to feel the loss when someone dies no matter the circumstances. I am also moved that other people in our community have connected with you as well. We created this site to connect people who are cr...

I guess it is easy for us to romanticize what we don't have. Maybe you should trade with one of your commenters. Have you ever been to Procida? That's where I want to go when here doesn't work for me.

Ilaria, I don't know what to say. I'm so sad that this happened to you. I don't know what I would do in such a situation. It must be very difficult thing to have happen to you. Don't be afraid to express your feelings though or even cry if you feel you need to. Even though he wasn't your "friend", your teacher seemed like someone in your life that you admired and appreciated and I'm sure that his passing is very devastating for you. Take care of yourself. Stay strong.
