So much to comment on. You developed this idea very well. I'm happy I read the draft and now the more finished piece. There's a point where you say you won't describe the evening's jokes because what follows was more important. I think you should describe those jokes, and reference them. Instead of telling us what to think, describe the workings and form a 'thesis' by selective narration, let us think for ourselves, and give more depth to your piece. flesh that part out. Also- develop the link between E and Paris more/ also the link with the boots. The boots symbolize soemthing more than hairy legs and female comradory- we need to see somehow that Lucy is representing a particular type of fashion, that is ever bit as false as paris's fashion. And that this girl is too, passing out drunk at a get together. somehow that is important, but its not a connection we make- we need to see that lucy is similiar and differnt too, and we need to understand her as perfect in chris's mind

This is really interesting, my boyfriend and I recently watched this debate with commentary by Ron Jeremy about porn and the affect it has on people's lives and how it sort of desensitizes you, maybe it might give you some more info for you story? I found the clips on www.reddit.com

i think the movie referred to here (not that it has anything to do with the piece) is "kill bill." great, great piece, jack. the logical tracks and transitions through them are fantastic. very emotional, and very true.

Wow, I found this to be a very well written, well thought out piece of work. This was just awesome!!! I saw the headline and was just like what...but kept reading...I guess waiting for disgusting comments or the typical guy response to porn (which sorta came thru the comments about Chris, but not really)...so I kept reading...awesome very awesome. Thanks for sharing this and I'd like to see the finished product as well, make sure you post it!!! :)

The movie you are referring to is M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable. The villain (Samuel L. Jackson) of the story relates the Superman alter ego to the hero (Bruce Willis). As far as porn goes, whatever floats your boat man.

My Portfolio

Jun 03, 2008

I cleared my portfolio a couple of days ago. Those pieces are posted under My Works but not My Portfolio.

Why?

Because sometimes I hate the stuff I write and don't want to have to see it.
Because sometimes I've revised a piece and am embarassed by the last draft.
Because sometimes I fixate and agonize over this book and seeing those "completed" pieces reminds me how far I still have to go.
Because sometimes I don't want to look back, I want to go further.
And because sometimes I want to quit and walk away, but don't have the testicular fortitude to do so.

I'm hoping to post a complete draft of the book (my third draft) by the end of the summer. Until then, this will be the last piece I add to My Portfolio... though My Works may still get some action.
