What is space when you're dating?!

So today me and a coworker, Tj, were talking about how his girlfriend told him she needed her space. How much space is too much?! They are dating "long distance" because she goes to Berkley and he lives in SD. Yesterday they got into an arguement and she told him she needed to space to figure some things out and that they weren't breaking up. I told him give it a day or two and call her, but don't try to go crazy apologizing and trying to fix things because she asked for her space for a reason. :: Then he tells me that in his big depression of not talking to her and not being able to see her; he bought a plane ticket to fly out there on Thursday to go see her... I think i'd be a lil upset, but hopefully she'll be exited. How would you feel if your bf/gf came to see you without any notice after you told them you needed a little space and time to figure some things out? Now he feels bad for being like a chick and being klingy Is there such a thing as giving someone too much or too little space when it comes to love?!
