newspaper job

did you ever notice how people enter your life. it's as if people enter your life in a scenario for a reason but you never realize until it's way to early or way to late. i mean if you really think about there is reason why people come into your life. whether it's a matter of making you realize you want to go down a path, don't want to go down a path, need to appreciate something...etc. i just find it very interesting. i got a new job and i didn't think anything of it...until I took notice of the work and meaning that is the foundation of the running of the business. i work for a newspaper. i don't write. i don't take photographs. i am an administrative assistant that sells classifieds. that seems like a meaningless job...but without me and the revenue from the ads the writers do not get the oppurtunity to speak freely in writing and make an impact on everyone that reads there work.

back to this thought however. my boss is a student like me. same year...graduating. however, so much pressure rests on his shoulders. if his staff fails, the paper is done. now this may seem worthless but personally i feel that people in there mid twenties have a lot to say. and without his commitment, once again writers wouldn't have there freedom. this made an impact on me. i mean he probably would want to be one of the writers. he probably would rather be taking pictures of whatever. but instead he funds free speech. i think that's awesome. i mean i really don't know how else to describe it. classified ads/display ads occasionaly make an impact on a person's life but rarely.

it almost makes me angry. i mean it costs so much money to print something and without that money not one message can be spread which is stupid. people need to read or be read too. peoples idea need to be ciruclated, because without thinkers and doers what are the followers going to do. its nothing personal against the followers but they obviously go along with whatever is handy at the time. i basically have mad respect for the people who want to encourage and promote thought.

speaking of thought.

i was just thinking that i think someone from OUR generation that has any sort of idea of how screwed we as a generation are going to be needs to be a presidential canidate.
