About me

My name is Taylor. I'm Iranian-American. My passion is journalism. And I mean I eat, breathe, and sleep journalism. I will someday be a broadcast journalist -- but not the kind that you see reading from the teleprompter or reporting from the salt barn about how much snow we have. I am interested in in-depth stories, similar to the work of Christiana Amanpoure from CNN, and I will do whatever it takes to get me there.

I love music, particularly rock. Some of my favorite bands include Incubus, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, John Mayer, and Stone Temple Pilots, but there are many many more.

I'm interested in learning about all people. I don't believe in discrimination and I believe that everyone should have a voice. I'm passionate about diversity.

Aside from that, I'm very easy to talk to, very optimistic, and I am generally nice to everyone.

Nice piece. Well written. The program seems to be worthwhile. And the article doesn't seem to have much controversy in it (only a little uncertainty). I can't stand newspaper articles that stir up controversy and and don't offer a solution! Again, nice piece from what I can tell.

Dear Missjournalist,

First off, Welcome to Quarterlife.

Secondly, nice piece.

Thirdly, so much more. At the risk of sounding smug, American democracy is so much more civilized than "democracy" in Middle Eastern countries that have a legal tradition based on Islamic law and the Code of Hammurabi, codes which are much more barbaric than even anything which George III imposed on the Colonials ca. 1776.

The chaos and danger of the Middle East is rooted in thousands of years of savage tribal traditions which the misinterpretation of the Koran merely stoked the fires of. While Westerners should be more aware of the dangers of being a journalist in the Middle East, nothing the international community can do, short of upholding the tradition of tolerance central to every great religion, will do anything to mitigate the danger journalists face in the Middle East.

Short of making people more aware of the plight of Middle Eastern journalists, which may merely worry factually powerless Western readers, what you propose be done about the violence these journalists face?

This ends my letter to the editor.

Respectfully submitted,

Cor
