The Annotated Dracula

.
I got this book from my good friend, Paul. He's the kind of guy you don't come up to and say, "Hey...did you know...?" He's already known it for a long time. Anyway, I just started reading this book. It's actually quite interesting even though it's about something as evil as vampires. Spooky. It's not been too spooky yet...we'll see as I progress through the book.

So I've gotten to the part where it's the women talking...it's a bit boring at the moment, but I'm sure it'll pick up in a page or two.

I'm sure all this talk is relevant to the story as it unfolds, but the anticipation of all the blood sucking and killing that is so basic to this story (or so it would seem to the unschooled in this original) is making this a bit long. The part of Dr. Seward's diary about Renfeld is pretty interesting. He's studying him and noticing his "pets" and how he feeds them to each other increasing the size of his last pet and his new pet a predator of the previous. Interesting it is.
So I'm hoping the story picks up again soon. I am entertained with all the inside information (the annotations in the margins) which at the moment is the most interesting reading.
Having said this, I am enjoying the book. It's just not what I expected initially. I'll have to learn that every good book is not so cut and dry as we see in movies. I'll probably learn to appreciate all the background stories that open up the main story as it unfolds.
