Late Night View

It's official...it's 0204hrs. Meaning, the day is just over two hours old, and as I look out the window into the darkness shrouding my home, not many people realize it. A street light flickers nearby, a cat silently passes from porch to porch, the trees sway back and forth in a strange unison, but no human life is apparent. Dimly lit clouds float across the dark skies, sneaking into someone's tomorrow. A televison glowing in a nearby second floor window is the only clue that someone may be sharing this waking hour with me. But then again, how many times have I pulled the covers up to my shoulders and came to rest under my own glow of network television, only to wake up hours later searching for the remote control which has taken its new position after being unconsciously kicked off the bed. Like the rainy day to follow, the night sheds a world of activity nobody sees. A screeching tire is heard in the distance, the car speeds off toward a place undoubtedly filled with more excitement and more things to observe. So, for right now, I'm okay with my view. It's a shame more people aren't able to share it with me. Maybe tomorrow night.
