This is beautiful. Love the monochrome palette. The blurry trees are perfect. Good stuff! Any chance of uploading it larger?

Is this north of Cambria? Beautiful picture. What a place!

soft days.

Mar 09, 2008

the irish call them soft days.
when sky meets ground and quivers.
baited. pregnant.
and the heavens loom large and out of proportion.
the clouds, a bit too low, hover.
the earth swells, like dough.
the space between charged, resonant.
as if music seeped between the cracks and
reeled about
transparent
and hanging.
notes crashing like cymbals in praise.

i was a fierce child. i had so much energy. i was constantly running, jumping, pretending. you know how i first knew that literature was my calling? my imaginary friends were greek gods and goddesses from mythology; i knew their greek and roman names. i always had my hands in everything. there wasn't a thing i hadn't attempted, no game i hadn't invented and no corner of the house left untouched by my wake. what i'd give to have that again! to be relentless and persistent and free. not just free, but unbridled. the concepts of duty and responsiblity foreign to me; metaphorical harnesses strangers to my face. ah, childhood.
