Let's see. On Thursday we drove to the state of New York. We finally got to the State Park, Verona Beach, where we were camping for Thursday and Friday nights. It's a little bit east of Syracuse, which was making me kinda feel a little nervous since an old friend of mine lives there. So anyway, when we got there, the lady at the little building who tells you where your campsite is was really rude. We just pulled up to the building and she didn't even say hello, or welcome, or anything. She was like, what do you want? haha. It was soooo awkward, I loved it! I don't know if you know this or not, but I love awkward moments. And then mom asked her if it was gonna fill up this weekend and she was like, "Well, not tonight, but tomorrow night it will. I like it better when it's empty." haha! We were like, okay, so we'll leave then. haha not really, but jeez. So the fact that she was so uninviting, (and that they didn't have any electricity in the campground except in the bathrooms) pretty much turned us off to the whole campground. Well, me anyway, cuz I needed to charge my laptop which meant sitting in the bathroom guarding it. Oh well. The sunset was really pretty on the lake there. It was basically like, postcard beautiful, but since I don’t have a camera, do you think I have any pictures of it? Haha.
Then on Friday we had a nice little bike ride. This time we convinced Anna that she in fact did not have another neck injury and she was forced to come along. The park did not have any actually bike paths, however, so we were forced to chart our own path- or something. Basically my dad was like, “Why don’t we see if we can find this old abandoned rail road track? Maybe they’ll let us ride our bikes on it.” Haha. Well he did end up finding a date nail that he wanted. The rail trail is now a snowmobiling/skiing trail. But we were gonna eat out for lunch, so we rode our bikes to nearby town, Sylvan. Haha, oh my goodness, good old Sylvan. In order to get to the little beach town we walked our bikes over a bridge over the water. While atop said bridge mom saw a restaurant that said “Food and Spirits” on it’s sign and she’s all, “Let’s go get some spirits and take ‘em back to the campground!” I was like, “Mom, the sign says no alcohol is allowed in unless you have written permission, and I don’t know what kind of hobo you’re gonna get that permission from.” Hahaha, so we went toward the “Spirits” sign. All of a sudden there was like, a kiddy land put put golf thing, and a merry-go-round, and all these carnival games… and Anna and I were like, “What the heck…” Anna goes, “If I see a clown, he’s getting punched…” It was really kind of creepy. It was like a totally empty amusement park because it was early in the morning so no one was there. They were just opening for the day, and we’re casually riding our bikes on through, when all of a sudden this guy with pink hair was like, “Excuse me sir [to my dad], no bicycle riding is permitted in the amusement park.” I’m pretty sure it took all that was in all of us to not start cracking up at this guy. Okay, so you’re standing there like you’re so cool, and your hair is what color? And you want me to listen to you why?! And It’s not like there’s anyone here that we might run over or anything. Haha, but we were like, “Okay, sorry.” And walked our bikes through the rest of the amusement park to the restaurant at which we got fried fish for lunch. It was really good. Then Anna and I rode this rollercoaster…and even though I’m totally an expert on projectile puking… I definitely resisted this time because my dad said he’d pay the 4 dollars for each of us to ride it unless we puked then we had to pay him back. Haha. And besides, the guys running the rollercoaster were pretty hot; I didn’t want to embarrass myself… haha. So then we rode back to the campground and yeah, that was about the end of the day.
On Saturday we stopped at Niagara Falls on the way home. It was kind of boring, cuz it hasn’t been that long since we were there before, so we remembered what they looked like. So Anna and I had way more fun people- watching then waterfall- watching. There was this guy in skinny jeans who was super nerdy. So we called him “Nerd in skinny jeans”. Naturally. We kind of stalked him. Actually we didn’t… it just so happened that he was going the same direction as us… in front of us… or something. Haha. There were so many Indian people at Niagara Falls. It was crazy. This one guy was wearing a plaid shirt with striped shorts and tall socks with sandals. It was such a cliché of what not to wear, it was unbelievable. I think Anna got pictures from our people- watching… hm. I’ll have to see about posting those…
So then we drove the rest of the way home, stopping in Imlay City for Burger King. Dude, that was a quality BK Lounge experience. Haha.
Okay, so thanks for humoring me and I hope you enjoyed the Tillie Bergmeier rendition of the Bergmeier Family Vacation 2008.
Don’t forget to check out some really great pictures that my dad took on vacation. There’s like 3 photo albums of them on my Facebook profile.
So the moral of this vacation is… If you’re going to demand respect, don’t wear a bright pink wig. Love, Tillie
