I've been kicked to the curb so many times before
Without even batting an eye they just rush me out the door

To face the sweet music of requited romance?

Take me for what I am
A seeping syrupy poet
Whose hopeless romantic notions
Are in high demand.

With hopes that you won't leave me
On this barren wasteland...Please Understand

I'm reminded of this poet's poems
Written in prose so long ago
It's words still lingering in the wind
"A curse upon those whose intentions are good and nice
To forever be the best friend
A girl could have next to diamonds.

And never earn her place as your soul's counterpart

Why does this tear me apart?

What act of chivalry or kindness
Deserves such brash madness?
Where the effort is all for naught
Despite its utter persistence.

Why must I go through constant resistance
When it's been YOU all along
In my thoughts and in my heart
