Brief Excerpt From Forth Coming NovelMar 14, 2008 - 09:14 AM PST They pass Boston Common to their left. Jake stares out the window and remembers. He sees all the bums with their beards and their sacks. They line the 7-11 entrance like the walls are made of them. More bums, sleep in their bundles all over the place; in corners, doorways, alleyways, out on the soft beds of grass of the Common itself, under the gentle canopy of trees, in small camps and as loners. They are a stark contrast to the horde of college kids, who suddenly exhale out the doors of the T-Station, pouring out to their highly important lives. They stroll along the walkways, arm in arm as couples, as new tribes of comrades or as lonely, misunderstood geniuses. They flow under the pretty orbs of light that hang down in ornate fixtures from the big, black street lamps, old as shit, but still lighting the paths of those young men and women, leading them on in compassion towards whatever futures may await them down the roads ahead |
