as if they were
candy
and she smiles
not knowing the difference.
her eyes are watching him as if
he were a cartoon.
she does not blink for fear
of missing each frame
that traverses from
anger to joy
seduction to pain.
she will never see his flaws
because his frames are
moving too quickly
and yet her heart
is breaking in slow motion.
