Check out my TV commercial and film work.Dec 02, 2007 - 09:08 AM PST Well, I decided to give some instructions on how to take a look at the body of commercial work I have done, as well as the film stuff I worked on. In case, you know, like, someone wanted to go look. I live in Regina Saskatchewan (sass-catch-you-wan). The city has about 200,000 people. The entire province (like a state) only has about 1,000,000 people in it. Considering the province covers more ground than North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas combined, it's kind of a sparse place to live. With that in mind, here's how to see my work. First you have to go to this link for True Color Productions, the local company that gives me most of my work. From there, you click on "productions. If you click "Feature Length Films", you can see a trailer for the film that I scored and did some Foley work on as well. It's called "Orphans of the Sand". The film is what it is, but I am proud of the score. If you click on "Commercials", this is where the rest of my work is. I did the music and Foley for everything on this page. I am particularly proud of the work I did with the sound-alike James Bond theme on the "For Your Eyes Only" commercial. The filmmaker I work with...his parents own the optical store, that's why you see a number of works for this business. What I find the coolest is that in a city of only 200,000, a filmmaker is putting a lot of creativity and work into commercials for local business. I lived in Toronto (4 million pop) and Vancouver (um...2 million or so?) for a number of years, and commercials done for local business there was usually by the book work done by in-house services at a local TV network. Very bland and lifeless stuff, usually. The CAA (which is Canada's AAA - ya think?) stuff is fun because I was able to bring some extra humor to the "Need CAA" segment with a well placed barnyard animal atmosphere, even though there were no animals in the shot. Some people swear they saw them...which was the intent. The sound goes with the landscape, and it was a way to reinforce the situation in a humorous way. I slipped it in and the director loved it. Anyway. That's my commercial and film stuff. Oh, one last thing. On that jump page at the site, clicking "testimonials and awards" will show you some commentary from festival judges and the companies we did the commercials for. CAA's numbers really jumped due to these commercials, and that was nice. |
