ChildhoodJan 30, 2008 - 21:13 PM PST Did you ever wish that you were a kid again? I always do. When I'm surrounded by friends, I'm too caught up in the moment to think about it. But when I am alone I catch myself sitting and wistfully thinking about how easy it was to be a kid. When I was a kid I remember always being happy. Ya know? Back before you faced the harsh reality of life. "Disappointment" was merely a word you had heard in passing but didn't know the meaning of. You had no stress and no responsibilities. Life was carefree, and everyone seemed happy. Maybe it was just the whole "ignorance is bliss" thing. Whatever it was I would gratefully go back if I could borrow someone's Delorean. I miss those days now. It's funny how you don't realize how fast life goes, and you don't appreciate all the little things until you look back. "Childhood" Lemon Pez and Fun Dip and playing in the snow. Toothless grins set across messy faces. Little fingers grasp at big ideas. The concept of Truth transcends lack of knowledge. Playing at "grown up", the gradual loss of innocence transpires a wish to go back. Back in life and back in time, Back when things were easy, and worries few. Childhood dreams replaced by the excitement of an uncertain future. (please don't make fun of my first attempt at poetry) |
