Clothesline Religion

Mar 13, 2008 - 16:12 PM PST

Baby's spoon
Leaded
Mound of pepper
Breaded

Thick line
Permanent chalk
Six inches, four sides
Walk

One-foot
Hopscotch
On white sheets
Threads top-notch

Clean stained panties
Drying out
In the front yard
Milkman in route

On the clothsline
Hanging there
Saved till later
For me to ware

By me,

i really like this poem. it's very, eh "objective correlative." sort of image + image + image + image = feeling.

love the "clean stained panties." but i'm partial to surprise.

simplicity is always best -- the short lines, small images. yet the words you choose are not simple, they give a nice rhythm and sound, and takes a really good ear to create.

really really nice
