The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

written by a poet by the name of Emma Lazarus 1883

a good friend sent this to me, it is about out Statue of Liberty, what a fantastic name to call the mighty WOMAN who stands tall at our door, welcoming ALL, turning away no one. I wanted to post it to remind everyone of our nation, one of freedom who was called the melting pot since people from all different countries came here and mixed together. Our nation that is the hope for all to have a better life. Let us all be that hope, let us all embrace others, let us love each other and be the change that we want to see, let us inspire others because of how we live. Peace harmony and blessings to all.
