In Defense of an Ailing Planet.

It is older than us all. The veins still bulge with life that is every day drained.
Pause only when the damage is done...when everything is stripped and barely left breathing.
The silent earth screams, bled dry, hoping we'll hear.
But listening is a forgotten art. Care has long ceased to be.
I crumble- like the soil; cracking from years of living with that oh so harsh sun.
Barely any water left with which to make our mark.
She feels our pain- the abused mother, and her tears bring relief to her brats.
Selfless- she is emptied, so that we might be renewed.
