in light of being differentMar 20, 2008 - 18:28 PM PST rant here it comes... i do not appreciate this business of labeling oneself i am this that or the other when really, i'm everything you want me to be or wish i wasn't. you see with the tinted and carefully crafted shades life has given you to some my worst traits are my best, and to others vice versa so, when describing yourself in an "about me" section for example, be careful because that box is rather confining, so don't set boundaries for yourself you are a changing individual, remember that my grasshoppers and fleas even if you try to sell yourself as whichever image you want (SUPER SEXBOMB GALORE), it won't mean anything unless you believe it yourself unless YOU believe you are those things, not because someone said "oh yeah, i could see you as a SUPER SEXBOMB GALORE!" cuz there is a difference between playing a part, and being the character. moving onto labeling other people... we make generalizations such as : black, white, asian, brown, gay, straight, bi, loser, bitch, princess, sweetheart ,and meeeeeeeeeeny-faced-lizard-skin yeah, its hurtful to some but i mean how can we avoid it its our natural ability to categorize, right? psychologically, we do this all the time unintentionally but yeah i do it too we apply overriding stereotypes and generalizations to all things even chocolate chip cookies the controversy does arise from the simple categories but, the measures some individuals take to enforce their perceived boundaries of such categories ie, excluding individuals, blatantly bashing someone's views on certain issues or beliefs, or even physical aggression why must we hate ourselves for merely the fibers of difference between each other? i guess civilization, isn't all there yet. ciao for now PS if anyone would like to take me to south america sometime in the near future i'd give them my kidney, or my unconditional love. |
