I tried to keep it sweet and soft and simple
with rosy cheeks and bright blue eyes.
But I failed, and she paled;
the imp just begging to be let out.
And a sky line emerged-
out of the sins of others
and three day old ads for a cattle sale.
Dark and dripping, the night sky is.
Our little game show queen
with arm outstretched....
showing us all we could have gone home with
had we only chosen door number one.
