My Only Friend


What if this was my last breath
My eyes closed
And the next was death?

Awakening into a cruel reality
One that transcends
In dark or light,
A surrealism that never ends

Would there be someone to greet me
Show me around, help me to see
A god, a friend, an angel or three

It's not so marvelous
Yet it's oh so grand
The people here so great
Have found peace, hand in hand

So this is death, the great equalizer
The greatest one, my only friend
