Preface
Scene- at a party
(Zach is trying to get threw a crowd of people, trying to get to Angela)

Zach: Angela! Angela! Man…
(he takes out his phone and dials her number)
( the phone starts to ring)
(the voice mail picks up)

Angela’s voice mail: Hey, this is Angela, I’m not here right now so, leave me a message!

Zach: Nice timing!
(Zach leaves through the front door)

Scene- in the other room.

Angela: Hey… where's the bathroom at.
(in a drunken voice)

Brian: Let's go home, I’m tired.

Ashley: Sounds good to me...
(she trips and almost falls but Brian catches her)

Ashley: Whoops!!!
(she giggles )
(Brian puts his her arm over his shoulder and begin to walk away)

Scene 1
(Zach is sitting on his bed in his room reading, with music playing, playing a video game or such)
[There is a knock on the door]

Zach: Just a sec!
(He walks towards the door stopping at a mirror to look at his face and feel his face to see how the hair is coming in)
[Another knock]

Zach: Hold on a second!
(he opens the door to see that is his friend)

Zach: Well hello there.
(she slaps him)
Zach: Ow, Now what was that for?

Ashley: For abandoning me at the party. I spent an HOUR looking for you!

Zach: Well sorry, I tried to call you but you wouldn’t answer your phone.
(she looks at him and smiles)

Ashley: Oops, my cell phone was off.
(he looks at her in a slightly angry way)

Scene 2
(hours later at night time)

Brian: Come on Zach! Pick up the phone, pick up! *Click as the answering machine starts to pick up* Hi, you’ve reached Zach Wilkins. I am probably out doing something now so give me a buzz later. Bye!]
[click as Zach picks up]

Zach : *yawn*Hello?

Brian: Zach, its me. I need to talk to you.

Zach: Alright , just give me a minute to wake up. You got me up from a nice nap. I almost
killed myself trying to get to the friggin phone. (yawning)

Brian (angrily): Well wake the hell up cause I really need your help.

Zach: Alright, I am listening.

(from outside Zach’s room)
Zach: WHAT!

Scene- 3

(Brian is sitting on floor of his room with phone glued to his ear. Zach sitting on his bed maybe playing a video game.)

Zach: What are you doing, driving your car, when I left, you were drunk.

Brian: I don’t know, I don’t even remember crashing it.

Zach : I can't help you this time, You’re just gunna have to tell your parents.

Brian: What! No, I cant do that, I’ve worked to hard to get where I am… Hasn’t this happened to any of your other friends?

Zach: Of course it has. But my friends are idiots, and apparently you are too. They just pretend they don’t know what happened, for as long as they can. But I guess you cant. Listen, I have to go. I will talk to you later, ok?

Brian: Yeah… Later.

(Zach is hanging up the phone from talking with his.)
(Ashley walks in the door)

Zach: Oh look who it is, I guess you decided not to knock this time.
Ashley: Zach, I have to tell you something.
Zach: *sigh* What is it?
(he says that in an annoyed voice)
Ashley: I crashed Brian’s car.
(he looks at her, confused)

Zach: Wait....

Ashley: We were both drunk and we were just trying to get home. Awwww, I’m so stupid.


Zach: Brian told me that he crashed his car. I must be surrounded by idiots

Scene 4
(the next day at the zone)


Zach: So, did you tell them?

Brian: No, I'm too scared to.

Zach: that’s good because you didn’t crash your car

End of scene

Scene: 5, in Ashley’s room
Ashley: *sigh* what am I gunna do
(her phone rings)

Ashley: Hello?

Brian: hey, what have you been up to, crash into any trees lately!

Scene: Brian’s room

(Ashley knocks on Brian’s door)

(Brian answers the door)

Brian: Oh its you…. Do you know how much trouble I’m gunna be in because of you !?!

Ashley: I know, I’m really sorry, that’s why I’m here to apologize. Can I please come in?

Brian: Fine.

( Brian leaves the door open and walks into his room)

Ashley: I'm so sorry you know I didn’t mean…

(Brian starts yelling and cuts her off)

Brian: God damn it Ashley no matter how sorry you are it won’t change anything
when my parents find out!!!

(Ashley starts to tear up)

Brian: What the hell do you expect me to do now!?

Ashley: I don’t have a clue… …maybe if you didn’t get us both drunk in the first place!

Brian: You chose to drink all on your own damn conscious, so don’t blame me for that!

(Ashley burst out in tears)

Ashley: I’m sorry ok!?
(Brian sits by her)

Brian: I’m sorry, I’m just so frustrated.

Ashley: It’s okay…
(he wipes a tear from her cheek)
(Brian stares at her)
(Brian starts to kiss her, she pulls back and then she lets him kiss her)

End of scene

Scene2 - in Zach’s room
(they are talking over the phone)
Brian- Well at first we were arguing and then she started crying and then… we kissed

Zach: Well, that’s nice (he says sarcastically). It was just one kiss right?
(Brian says nothing)
Right? Aw come on, I cant believe you. I can never leave you with another girl again.

Brian: We just got caught up in all of the emotions and then… we kissed.

Zach: *sigh* Whatever… I have to do some homework so I’ll talk to you later.
Bye

Brian: Bye…
(Zach hangs up the phone)
Zach: *sigh* Why do I hang out with these people.
(Zach starts to gets his home work out of his backpack but he is interrupted by a phone ring)
(he looks at the phone and sees Ashley’s name, he answers it)
Zach: What!?

Ashley: Man, why are you so cranky?

Zach: I don’t know maybe because my friends are playing hook up!
Ashley: *sigh* Why are you making such a big deal of it? It was just a kiss.

Zach: Well, from my experiences, friends kissing leads to that awkward drama that nobody likes to get into.

Ashley: I was just calling for advice.

Zach: No, I am not giving anymore advice because every time I do it leads to more drama… Don’t you have any other friends you can talk to

Ashley: Yeah, but-
(Zach cuts her off)
Zach: Well, go talk to them.
(he hangs up the phone)
(he turns his cell phone off and lays on his bed to think)
Zach:*sigh*

Scene3 - later at the zone
(Ashley is at the counter sipping on a soda(looking a little sad) when Zach walks up and sits by her)

Zach: Hey… I’m sorry for getting so angry and hanging up on you.

Ashley: It’s fine…
(Brian walks in the front door)
(Zach looks back to see who it is)

Zach: Hey, look who’s here.
(he whispers to Ashley)
Zach: I’m gunna' go.
(he gets up and nervously walks away)
(Brian sits by Ashley)
Brian: What was that about?
(Ashley shrugs)
Brian: Listen, I'm sorry for the way I acted, I know it wasn’t right.

Ashley: It's okay, besides, I kinda liked it anyway.
(they both smile)
(they have a moment of silence, but then Zach walks up)

Zach: I forgot my wallet.
( he grabs his wallet and then scurries away)
(Brian’s phone starts to ring)
(he answers it )
Brian: Hello?

Zach: Get over here! Right now!
(he tries to whisper)

Brian: Where are you?

Zach: By the bathroom.

Brian: Okay

Zach: Bye....
(Brian hangs up the phone)

Brian: Sorry, I have to do something, one sec.......

Ashley: Okay
(Brian walks over to Zach)

Zach: What are you doing!?

Brian: Don’t worry, were just talking.

Zach: Stay here.

Brian: Why?

Zach: Because I’m going to fix this and I don’t need you messing things up
(Zach leaves)

Brian: Man, somebody’s cranky!

Scene: by Ashley

Ashley: Where’s Brian
(Zach ignores her question)

Zach: Do you like him?

Ashley: Well-

Zach: That’s great, you crash his car and then you make out with him.

Ashley: Why are you getting so angry!?

Zach: Because it doesn’t make sense!

Ashley: What are you talking about?

Zach: WE-ARE-FRIENDS! And if you two go out, then what will we be, A couple with a third wheel?

Ashley: Don’t you think that’s kind of selfish?

Zach: *sigh* I just don’t want to lose you guys. Is that so bad?

(Ashley looks him in the eye)

Ashley: You’re not gunna lose us, we’ve been through so much together that even if we went out and then broke up that we’ll still be friends.

Zach: How do I know that?
(he sighs then gets up and leaves)
Scene: by Brian

(Zach is nodding his head side to side)

Brian: What’s goin on?

Zach: She likes you.

Brian: She does!?
(Zach looks at him and he doesn’t look happy)(Brian can see that he’s serious)

Brian: What’s wrong?

Zach: Nothing…
(he looks at Zach and then Ashley, he decides to go to Ashley)

Scene: By Ashley

Brian: Hi…

Ashley: Hi.

(they have a silent moment)

Brian: He told me… and I like you too.

End of scene

Scene: The next day in Zach’s room
(he is watching TV but turns it off)

Zach: *sigh*
(his phone rings)(he doesn’t look to see who it is but he answers it anyway)

Zach: Hello?

Brian: Hey…
(Zach doesn’t answer but Brian knows he is still there because Zach turns over on his bed)

Brian: Ashley told me what happened… but I can't help the way I feel.

Zach: I guess you can't..... Why do things have to change so fast?

Brian: Hm… I don’t know…

Scene: After school no one is there but Ashley, Zach, and Brian.

Ashley(playfully): Hey! Quit it!
(Brian is tickling her)

Brian: Why? Do you not like to be tickled?
(Zach looks at them but he doesn’t say anything)
(they calm down after awhile and begin to walk)

Zach: I don’t get why they give us so much homework, its not like we’re in a hurry.
Ashley: It's because they hate us. Isn’t it obvious by now?

Zach: Now that I think about it, yeah.
( Zach notices a girl picking up books and paper )(he starts to walk towards her)

Zach: Here, let me help you with that.

Girl: Um.. thanks
( they get the stuff up )

Girl: Thanks.

Zach: You're welcome. I didn’t catch your name.

Girl(stuttering): I-I-It’s Rebecca, but people call me Becca.

Zach: Okay, well I gotta catch up with my friends so see ya’.

Rebecca: Bye.
( he catches up to his friends)

Brian: Who was that?

Zach: Her name is Rebecca.

Scene: In Zach’s room talking on the phone with Brian

Zach: So what happened with the car?

Brian: Turns out that the car had bad breaks so I’m in luck.

Zach: Yeah. (with great emotion)

Brian: Well I’m gunna go, bye.

Zach: See ya'.

Scene: in Brian’s room
( he hangs up the phone, Ashley is sitting next to him )

Ashley: You totally lied.

Brian: I had to, if I told him the truth, he would probably lose it.
( they sit there for a while not saying anything)

Ashley: Well, I’m gunna go

Brian: Okay.
( she hugs him and kisses him on the cheek )

Ashley: Bye.

( scenes switch out from Brian, Ashley, and Zach as Zach narrates )

(N) Zach: So in end, we are okay. Changed,… different, but okay. we may not be the same but we are who we are.

Ordinary People. Episode 2

Scene: in Zach’s kitchen, he is drinking some orange juice but is interrupted by a knock at the door.

Zach: One second!
(he puts his drink on the counter and runs to the door)
(he gets to the door and opens it)

Lonnie: hey bro!
(she hugs him)

Zach: Um, what are you doing here?

Lonnie: I just wanted to come visit.

Zach: You never what to come visit, what did you do.

Lonnie: Nothing, I promise.
(Zach looks at her in a suspicious way)

Zach: Sure. I have to go to school so stay out of my room.

Lonnie: What, you don’t trust me?

Zach (as he walks down the steps): No.

Scene: in Zach’s room, at his computer. Lonnie is logging into his msn account.

Lonnie: He still hasn’t changed his password. Nice work Zachrey.
(she laughs a little.)
(she goes to his past conversation box and clicks on Ashley’s name.)
(she starts reading his conversations with her.)

Lonnie: This is getting a little heated.
(she sees Brian’s name in the conversation.)
Lonnie: Who’s Brian?
(she clicks on the back button and finds Brian’s name, she clicks on it)

Scene: on a sidewalk, Zach and Ashley are walking to school.

Zach: So my sister is visiting.

Ashley: You have a sister?, you never told me.

Zach: I don’t talk about her a lot.

Ashley: Why?

Zach: I just… don’t.

Scene: in Rebecca’s room.
(she has pills in her hand, she is staring at them, she has a cup of water on her nightstand)

Her mom( from outside of the room): Rebecca, its time for school!
( Rebecca looks up, her eyes start to water, she puts the pills in her mouth and swallows, she falls over on her bed, dropping the rest of the water and some more pills) (Her mom comes into the room)

Mom: Rebecca, get up, its time for school.
(she walks over to her and sees the pills)

Mom: Rebecca!

Scene: at a park, they are standing by a tree.
(a police officer walks up to them)

Police officer: hello, are you (he looks down at a clip board that has papers on it) Zachery Wilkins?

Zach: Yes.

Police officer: I need you to come with me.
(the police officer starts to walk to his car and Zach follows)
(everyone starts to gossip, wondering what happened, Ashley looks worried)

Scene: in one of the offices at the police station.

Police officer: Do you know Rebecca Lockhart? (he pulls out a picture of her, and hands it to Zach)

Zach: Um… [flash back to the scene of Zach helping her pick up her things] yes.

Police officer: she committed suicide this morning.
( Zach makes a face of disbelief)
Zach: What?

Police officer: She overdosed.

Scene: At Zach’s house, Lonnie is watching T.V, flipping through channels

Lonnie: Aw! There is nothing on.
(she goes onto the kitchen and gets some water, her phone starts to ring and she runs to her purse to get it)

Lonnie: Hello?

Zach: Lonnie, it’s me, I need you to come pick me up from the police station.

Lonnie: What happened, are you okay?

Zach: I’m fine.

Lonnie: Okay, I’ll be there in a minute, bye.
(Zach hangs up the phone, Lonnie looks at the phone and smirks because he didn’t say bye)
(She grabs her stuff and goes out the front door)

Scene: outside of the police station, Zach is waiting for Lonnie, Lonnie pulls up and Zach gets in.

Lonnie: So, what happened?

Zach: Nothing.

Lonnie: Okay?
(she looks at him as he stares out the window and then starts to drive)

Scene: at Zach’s house, he is on the phone with Ashley, finishing a conversation.

Zach: okay, so that’s what happened, bye.
(Lonnie walks into the room)

Lonnie: Zach,… Why won’t you tell me what happened.

Zach(trying not to get angry): Because it’s none of your business.

Lonnie: Why are you acting like such a jerk?

Zach: Why are you still here?!
(Lonnie looks hurt)

Scene: it’s the next day, Zach and Lonnie aren’t talking to each other.
(Lonnie is sitting at the kitchen table, drinking a cup of juice watching the news, Zach walks in and their eyes meet but then they quickly look away. Zach walks past her and gets a cup of water)

Scene: at the park, Ashley, Zach and Brian are sitting on a bench, they’re just sitting there, staring blankly into space.

Brian:… I’m really, really bored.

Ashley: You’re not alone.
(Ashley slouches onto his shoulder, Zach looks at them but her his to distracted by what happened with him and his sister to care)

Zach: Rebecca’s dead *sigh*… just another thing add on to our résumé full of drama.
Drama, drama,… drama…. Ya’ know, I could’ve helped her, I could have done… something, but I didn’t… and that’s why she’s dead.
(Zach looks up and sees Rebecca Staring at him, but then she fades away, Zach looks stunned)

Scene: at the zone counter, Ashley is there sitting with Brian.

Ashley: I feel so bad cuz Rebecca committed suicide.

Brian: I don’t think that there was anything that we could have done to help.

Ashley: Maybe so, but maybe if we did something to help her,… she wouldn’t have did it.

Scene: at Zach’s house in the living room where Lonnie and Zach are both watching TV, still not talking to each other.

Lonnie [while flipping threw channels]: *sigh* [she turns her head to him] We need to talk.
Zach[ he looks up ]: About what?

Lonnie [while sitting the remote down]: About what happened.

Zach: I have nothing to say.

Lonnie: Why don’t you want me here, what did I do?

Zach [sarcastically]: I don’t know, maybe because every time I see you, you want something, or you’ve done something.[ he starts to leave the room] [he stops] … Maybe I’m just used to seeing you mess up.[ [he continues out of the room]

Scene: outside on Zach’s front porch.

Zach: *sigh*

Episode 3

Scene: Brian is in his room, laying on his bed, tossing a ball up in the air.

Brian: *sigh* I’m screwed. [he tosses the ball onto the floor]

Scene: Zach in is a councilor’s room talking about his problems

Zach: I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore, I mean- sometimes it feels like my body is a remote control, like I’m just a silent viewer. (The councilor looks at him and then gently smiles and then starts to write things down.) (Zach tries to peak at what she is writing.) (She leans towards him)

Councilor: Are you depressed-

Zach: N- no of course not.

Councilor: It’s alright, I’m not going to tell anyone.

Zach: I’m not depressed! (Zach seams startled by what he said, like he didn’t even know he said it.) … I’m just going through some stuff right now.

Councilor: Like what?

Zach: (while nodding his head side to side)… My life is jacked up, I hate my family-my friends, a girl I barely knew, died, and I got all worked up about it, and I don’t know why.

Councilor: It’s alright to be confused, you just have to work through it.

Zach: (still nodding his head) Its not alright.

Scene: In Zach’s house, Lonnie is packing her bags, she is in the guest room.

Lonnie: (talking to herself) I try to be his friend and he snaps on me, I try to figure out what’s wrong and he snaps on me. I give up. (She starts to write a message on a folded restaurant tissue that says: “I’m going home, I won’t bother you anymore.” she places it on her desk, then leaves the room with her bags.)

Scene: Brian is in his room on Quarterlife.com, posting a video blog.

Brian(speaking to camera): I am so screwed, My girlfriend crashed my car, My best friend is losing it, and I get stuck with the consequences… - (sarcastically) Great!

Scene: In Ashley’s room, she is writing a paper on geometry.

Ashley: Ugh, this is too hard!

Scene: it’s a new day, another character has entered, Salina, a confident brunette, who stands up for who she is, causing trouble for the kids. - Scene: Ashley, and Brian are sitting by a creak, waiting for Zach.

Brian: Where is he?

Ashley: I don’t know.
(they begin to walk towards the street, to see where Zach is.) ( they see Zach talking to Salina)

Salina: --It’s not about what people thought, its about the facts.

Zach: Oh really?!, I think that people made up information about the moon landing.

Salina: No-

Zach: Yes, you may live in “Lala land” but the facts are the facts so deal with it.

Ashley: Um, what’s going on here?

Zach: Little miss. Know It all, thinks that the moon landing was real!

Brian: Um, it was real.

Zach: that’s besides the fact!
