Permanent state of LimboJan 19, 2008 - 21:36 PM PST I'm 25 years old, I went to college for a while, and moved back home, with mom, to my big small hometown. I didn't get my degree and I work part time in a grocery store. I am, however, finally going back to school. That was the grand plan for me and Lindsey. Lindsey is the girl I dated for two and a half years. I was going to go back to school for undergrad at the same school she went to for grad school, and everything was falling into place. Until she decided to dump me out of nowhere a couple months back, because she's 22 but too young to be tied down. Now, I'm stuck in this shitty town with nothing to do but sit around passing time. I work at a grocery store, so the only friends I make at work are between the ages of 16 and 18. I lost touch with all my friends from high school when I moved away to school. The only person I go out with is my 35 year old brother to a bunch of hick bars where all the women are either married or recently divorced 30-somethings who couldn't carry on a conversation about anything past their hair. I honestly have no clue where people my age have gone around here. It's like everyone goes from 18 to 33 and there's no one in between. I guess they're all at home with their first husband/wife and kids. It's really frustrating, and it never really bothered me until I became single again. What I used to live for was the weekend, when I would finally get to see Lindsey again. Now I am stuck, waiting for the next part of my life to begin. I mean, I have nothing in common with anyone here, and even if I do, I feel like it's only a part of me. I guess I just have too many interests and not enough passions. Anyway, I'm rambling. I guess the point is if anyone is on here from the Hickory area, which is far-fetched if you know the characteristics of the young adults in the area, let me know-where the hell did all the people my age go? |
