dreams

holding you close to me
under the star-lit sky,
looking at the bright moon,
our kids running around us

dreams, all they were was dreams
nothing more, nothing less
dreams are all they will be
fading and flickering like a flame

riding our horses past our castle
into the thick beautiful forest
where we find a clearing
and have a picnic, just us

holding each other close watching
the ocean tide roll in, crashing on
the sand we sit on.
forever yours, forever mine.

dreams, all they were was dreams

dreams are all they will be
fading and flickering like a flame

will all this madness stop?
are all of these images just dreams?
will we live happily ever after?
or will we part one day?

dreams are all our hopes have become
with the future so uncertain
none of it matters though,
