press onApr 17, 2008 - 13:22 PM PST President Calvin Coolidge said: “Nothing I this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problem of the human race.” So this is a quote that I stole from another user sorry jade bug. But it makes me wonder about myself and all that is around me. I often do not see myself pressing on, but rather try to find other ways to go through life. I feel like that the choices in my life have scarred me in a way that no longer can I always fight to get the response that I want. I am so tired of fighting. I guess that feeling in itself shows that I have a really hard time pressing on. I think my whole family is that way though. I bet that I am one of very few people who when venting to their mother about how hard college is she seriously told me that I should consider quiting. Who tells their child I'm sorry honey maybe you just aren't college material. FYI I proved her wrong. Anyway back to the point. I am no longer going to complain about the cards that I have dealt but, rather try to manipulate the deck. |
