Refuse to touch, so throw?

Ok I dont know how many people have ever worked at a job with a cash registar, but have you ever had the people who wont hand you the money? Quite frequently I have someone throw the money on the counter, as if I am a leper. And many of them throw the individual bills down seperatly so that you have to gather up the money and count it. and dont get me started on when they spread their change out on the table and you have to gather every cent. I find that this is more common with older customers.

Now am I alone in thinking that this is rude? i feel often that they have doing this as a means to belittle me. As if they are better than me because I work in a restuarant. And if it is because they think that hand to hand contact will give them some untold illness, think about the money that they are handling. US currency is among one of the dirtiest things that you will handle during the course of your day unless you work with animals or in some form of waste treatment.
