Self-imageMar 11, 2008 - 19:19 PM PST Last Tuesday the 4th, I injured my knee again in judo. It comes at a bad time (when is any time good for an injury). Anyways, I mite have to get surgery again, but after the last one, I don’t want to be put under the knife. This has affected my psyche and I depend on my physical activity to give me confidence and a positive self-image. If I go with the surgery now I mite be walking normally in three months and back into competition in December (like there is anything going on in the winter). Here is part of the letter that I got from the MRI: “There is an ACL reconstruction that appears disrupted with an irregular course and increased signal.” WTF does that all mean? Could the doctor be any more indecisive? I just want to know the facts. Is my ACL going to let me kite surf this summer with no further damage to my knee? Is my ACL torn, just stretched, or is it ok? It’s is so difficult to do anything when I’m worried about my athletic future, menial health, and positive self-image. |
