The Dorm Room Gourmet, Episode 4

Alrighty kids, time for another episode!!

For this one, I dug up an old childhood favorite...





Staple of childhood snacks and all-around strange combination...apples and peanut butter!

Now, obviously this would not be a good idea for those with nut allergies...but I've gotta say it.


So, I set into the apple...rinsed it off and removed the sticker, then cut it into quarters and removed the core and the skin. This resulted in...




*Note: the deformed-looking slice is the result of necessary removal of off-color apple. If they come out looking like that normally, you need to learn to use a knife.

The next step was extremely simple...




Added a bit of peanut butter to each apple slice. Then, well, I ate them.

I'm a longtime fan of this combination; there's just something about the two foodstuffs that makes them pure awesomesauce when combined. After thirty seconds of feverish devouring...





Aaaand time for the breakdown...


Cost: Apples are fairly cheap; somewhere under a dollar a pop at most supermarkets...or you can just swipe one (or a half dozen...) from the cafeteria. Peanut butter ain't that expensive either...at under $3 US for an 18oz. jar that'll last forever if you don't use it, it's definitely a good call for college. 5/5 cans.
Tools/Materials Required: You will need a sharp knife to cut the apple, and a plate would be advisable. 4/5 cans.
Effort and Time Needed: With just a bit of practice, you can break down an apple in less than a minute. Even without practice, shouldn't take more than three to put the entire snack together...though by way of contrast to earlier products, you won't be able to do anything else during that time. 4.5/5 cans.
Taste: Verging on the religious. Seriously, the two ingredients were made for each other...and there's even a bit of textural contrast going on for all you foodies out there. 5/5 cans.


Final Score: 4.8/5; Eat This Now!!!

Well, that wraps it up for this episode....I do still have a couple requests to fill; rest assured they will be as soon as I scrape up the money to buy the stuff...
