The Love I Leave Behind

What am I leaving behind
In this world when I’m dead in the ground
What of my love will my children find
When I’m no longer smiling here and around

I can’t stand to leave them empty handed
I refuse to not care
To leave my family emotionally stranded
So my love, my heart with them I’ll share

Tell them of my misadventures
Expatiate on the various loves and lusts
That shaped my life
Show the differences between wants and musts

What am I leaving behind
In this world when I’m dead in the ground
What of my love will my children find
When I’m no longer smiling here and around

I refuse to leave my family with nothing but a headstone
I will fill their hearts and memories with my love
Allow them to pass on life’s joy that I’ve shown
I’ll watch over them as a graceful dove
