thinking back part 2

Mar 01, 2008 - 13:03 PM PST

It was my 13th birthday. I had been living with my grandmother for at least a year. I can't even remember anymore why I moved in with my grams, I assume that when the summer was over I just never went back home. I was so excited to be a teenager and I was so sure that everything was going to be different from that day on. I had no idea how true that ideal really was. My mom called for my Gram to ask for a ride to the bus station. She didn't call to say "Happy birthday Cassie" or "I love you Cassie". I was the one to answer the phone and she told me that she had a present and a cake for me when we came to get her. I remember getting to my mom's house and being so excited to see the cake, she always outdid her self when it came to food. I walked in and saw her standing there with her bags and a box that wasn't wrapped and a cake that wasn't decorated or even frosted for that matter. She had to have seen the disappointment in my face but all she said was " I'm sorry I didn't have time to wrap your present or ice your cake but you understand the bus leaves when the bus leaves". I was only 13 though and I didn't understand. That was the beginning of the hate that overtook my life and time left with her.
