why is NJ so expensive?

my parents were thinking of buying a house about 3 years ago.
the houses we were looking at were about $350,000.
the same houses are now....at least $800,000.
it's fucking ridiculous.
i'm never buying a house here it's wayyyy to expensive.
i mean its a great place to live and grow up but WTF!?
i'd rather move to georgia and buy a 4 bedroom house for $282,000.
