I loved "Army of Me" and the Telegram remix of "I Miss You."

V - OK this "performance artist" thingy is giving you plenty of room to do whatever the HELL you want! Which is seemingly very interesting to watch. Some performance artists began combining video with other media to create experimental works like those of Chicago's Sandra Binion, who elevated mundane activities like ironing clothes, scrubbing steps, dining and doing laundry into living art.

Here's a quote for you. When George W. Bush was asked if he had ever done cocaine, he replied, "No comment." Hmmm. "No comment" seems to be the comment of the century. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your piece. I'll let you know if I can come up with anything more useful.

I just came across your blog, and for some reason I read it. I'm with you 100% with the people watching. I know you said you're not much of a writer, but your writing is what got me to leave a message. Emotional intercourse...all I can say is WOW.

Questionable Spice

Feb 01, 2008

Okay, I was just thinking…where did the Spice Girls come from? I mean, back in like, 1997. Obviously they didn’t come from nowhere…but then all of a sudden they just exploded on the scene. And then they left for almost ten years…and have just now come back for even more. I think it’s great. It’s really rad that people still accept them, especially after their extreme tastes in looks, I think people are overly judgmental as far as all that goes. It’s all about looks. But that’s a whole nother thing…I just think the Spice Girls in general are such a crazy, surprising hit. And still.

I’m not saying I want fame, in fact I vehemently DON’T…I don’t even think I could handle it if I DID have it. So maybe that’s why I would never be like the Spice Girls. They probably worked really hard to get where they were. And still are.

I dunno…just a random thought I was having. I have those.

The other day someone recognized me as a performance artist. It was so rad. Not the being recognized—I could do without. Just knowing someone was so affected by my art that they remembered me, and even remembered how they remembered me. It almost made me cry, it was nice to be understood. Not that I’m misunderstood, it’s just that sometimes you do things and hope it makes a difference, and it’s just nice to know that you do.

Especially in this city, it’s not like people are overly nice. People don’t have to come up to you and tell you they recognize you and your art…so the fact that this guy did go out of his way to do that is just so rad…I really appreciated it. In case you’re reading. J
